Consultation 2027-28
Commonweal School is currently undertaking a consultation regarding proposed changes to its Admissions Policy. A key element of this consultation is the proposed expansion of the current catchment area.
We invite and welcome your feedback on these proposed changes.
If implemented, the revised Admissions Policy, including the expanded catchment area, would take effect for admissions from September 2027 onwards.

Background
In line with the School Admissions Code, admission authorities are required to consult on their admission arrangements whenever they would like to make a change.
In accordance with the Admissions Code, a consultation period must run for a minimum of six weeks and take place between 1 October and the 31 January. The process allows parents, carers, other schools, local authorities, and other interested stakeholders to raise comments or concerns about the proposed arrangements. These documents are particularly for the attention of parents, carers, other admissions authorities, and the local authority.
This consultation will run between Tuesday 21 October to Friday 5 December 2025.

The Process of Consultation
The consultation is being communicated by Commonweal School as follows:
- Notification to Swindon Borough Council
- Notification to all parents, carers and guardians of students at Commonweal School by letter and through the school’s website
- Notification to Headteachers and Principals of all schools and colleges in the local authority and local area
You are welcome to pass this consultation onto anyone you feel may be interested.
All comments and suggestions are invited; you can respond by email to admissions@commonweal.co.uk.
All comments and suggestions must be received no later than the consultation deadline of Friday 5 December 2025.
On conclusion of the consultation on Friday 5 December 2025, all responses will be collated and presented to the Governing Body of Commonweal School for full consideration.
The outcome of the consultation will be notified to all parents and carers by the end of February 2026 with a full report posted on the school’s website.
Consultation outcome and final revised policies will be presented to Swindon Borough Council by the 24 February 2026.
FAQ
Will all current and future parents be aware of any proposed changes?
All current parents and carers will be written to as part of the consultation process and all parents in local primary schools that are affected will be notified of the consultation also. Any parent or carer is able to contribute in writing to admissions@commonweal.co.uk by no later than Friday 5 December 2025.
How will I know the outcome of the consultation?
The consultation will be completed, and all contributions referred to the Governing Body of The Commonweal School for consideration. Outcomes of the consultation will be published on the school’s website and will be listed under Admission Policies in the Admissions section.
